From April 9-11, our Feromihin delegates took the opportunity to attend the PTC Conference 2024, held in Berlin. Here are some of the PTC takeaways:

PTC Conference 2024 surpassed expectations as a leading event in the pipeline sector, boasting record participation and exhibitors. The conference covered diverse topics, fostering collaboration and offering valuable insights. With over 1,000 participants from 51 nations, this event serves as a worldwide platform for dialogue concerning the evolution of pipeline technology.

The future of pipeline operations

At the Digital Transformation Panel, experts discussed the future of pipeline operations, exploring digitalization and AI’s impact. The World Pipeline Outlook session provided insights into global trends and opportunities, and industry leaders shared perspectives on emerging trends and challenges.

During PTC seminars, participants covered many critical topics in the pipeline industry, including inspecting challenging pipelines, hydrogen pipeline integrity, in-line inspection techniques, combating microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC), managing geohazard risks in pipeline projects, and delving into US pipeline safety laws and regulations.

The emphasis on diversity within the industry was underscored at the conference through the Global Women in Pipeline initiative. This initiative fosters connections and inspiration among women through various talks and networking opportunities. The event drew over 70 attendees and featured 17 esteemed speakers from across the globe, highlighting the industry’s increasing dedication to diversity. 

At the PTC Meetup, members of the PTC Advisory Committee, speakers, sponsors, and exhibitors gathered for a dynamic networking event. These informal gatherings promote collaboration and knowledge exchange, reaffirming the community’s commitment to advancing the pipeline industry.

PTC Berlin 2024 highlights

  • Award ceremony: Ana Paula Gomes from Enivibes received the Dr. Klaus Ritter Award for Best Young Pipeliner Paper, recognizing outstanding contributions to pipeline research by young professionals.
  • PTC photo contest: Steffen Weinrich and Max Streicher were honored for their creative contributions depicting the pipeline industry’s essence.
  • PTC workshops: Delegates engaged in discussions and hands-on learning, gaining practical knowledge to enhance their skills.
  • PTC operator round tables: Pipeline operators convened for exclusive discussions on challenges and best practices, fostering community and collaboration.
